Open

As a word junkie, there are infinite quotes that move my soul. There are a multitude of word combinations I could eat with a spoon. There are movie lines that kick me straight in the throat. And there are book passages that move me to ugly cry. There is also the strong possibility that I have four separate Pinterest boards devoted to my love of verbiage.

But as any collector will tell you, there are always objects that stand out as favorites.  There are always pieces that move one just as strongly as if seeing them for the first time. One such quote by Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi is just as poignant today as it was the day I first read it:

“That which you seek is seeking you.”

Take a moment to let that sink in.

Take a moment to breathe in that fragrance.

Take a moment to open to such a possibility.

What desires resounded within your head, heart, soul, and being?  Which one roared loudest? Make note of these, my dear one.  These are the language of your Purpose.

No roar? No problem.

Open for a moment.

Allow yourself to break chains, to fray tethers, and really dream.

Grasp this brief moment, take a breath, allow yourself to open to the wonder of asking life for anything you want – be it senseless, far-fetched, or out of reach, be it miniscule, immense, or impossible.

These desires are between you and your Universal Cosmic Being. There’s no need to edit or feel foolish. No one can read your mind or hear your thoughts, except the one that made you. This entity already knows your subconscious thoughts.

What has your heart conveyed?

Hold dear to these yearnings and dare to wonder…

What if everything I ever wanted was driven by it first seeking me out?

(If you feel any fear, allow it to rise – you just challenged your fragile ego to a dual with your immense spirit. Remind your head that your heart is not your enemy.)

This is some cataclysmic thinking, isn’t it?

What’s even more cataclysmic is when you take the next step: allow the wonder and the power of this openness to show up in your life.

Allow the goodness of life to deliver its sweet packages of love, hope, desire, and grace.

Believe you are worthy of every hope your heart has ever whispered.

Rebel against the naysayers and the vessel shrinkers, the soul belittlers and the dark mongerers.

Be dauntless. Be bold. Be courageous.

Open to the possibility that your innate pursuits are striking bells for you to hear your truth.

Open to the possibility that what rings as truth within your soul is the Universe calling you home.
